In the Golden age of the Muslims a number of educational institutions were made all over the world where Muslims were in power. That is the time when a Muslim saint and a scholar Hazrat Bahaudin Zakaria made a school of education in the city of Multan where disciples from all over the sub continent came to learn. The university is located just 10km away from the center of the city on an area of about 960 acres.

Following the pattern the government set the foundation of the University of Multan in 1975 and later to pay homage to the great saint, changed its name to Bahaudin Zakaria University. It has over 30 different departments and schools which include Department of Economics, Education, History, Mass communication, Psychology, Sociology, Applied biology, Physics, Statistics, Management Sciences, Commerce, Pharmacy, engineering and so on.

The combined number of faculty members in all of its departments is 523 and the number of faculty members with doctoral degrees is 172. Along with its undergraduate programs the university also provides a number of Master’s degrees. Being one of the fastest growing universities of Pakistan BZU offers a number of facilities to students including hostel facilities, transport, sports, libraries, research centers etc.
