Applying to NUST On The Basis Of ACT or SAT

NUST has a few reserved seats in UG programs for national and international students on ACT and SAT basis. Desirous candidates can avail the facility provided they meet the specified eligibility criteria and are willing to pay tuition fee and allied charges of the category.

ACT - American College Test

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test administered by ACT, Inc. more about ACT

ACT Length:2 hrs, 55 minutes (plus 40 minutes if taking ACT with writing)

ACT Subject: English, Math, Reading, Science, Writing (optional)

Cost:

  • US without Writing: $50.50 USD
  • US with Writing: $67.00 USD
  • Non-US without Writing: $150.00 USD
  • Non-US with Writing: $166.50 USD

Validity: ACT score remains valid for Two Years

SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test (College Board)

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board.

SAT Length: 3 hours

SAT Sections:

  • Math
  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing

SAT Cost: $55

Highest SAT Score: 1600

Average SAT Score: 1060

Each section of the SAT is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale. Your total SAT score is the sum of your section scores. The highest possible SAT score is 1600.

Validity: SAT score remains valid for Two Years.

NUST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 2790.

NUST Admissions

Candidates with SSC and HSSC or equivalent qualification are eligible to appear on the basis of ACT or SAT.

Separate application form for applying on ACT and SAT basis will be available on NUST website tentatively in May. Those who do not enter their ACT or SAT scores before deadline will be assigned zero weighting.

The merit list for candidates applying on the basis of ACT / SAT for national seats is prepared separately.

Pakistani candidates of both O/A Level and FA/ FSc streams can exercise this option and compete for the SAT seats by taking the ACT / SAT.

ACT / SAT Seats for International Students

Following categories are eligible to apply for international seats on ACT / SAT basis:

  • Pakistani national students having passed an examination equivalent to intermediate level from a foreign education system. Foreigners and Pakistanis having dual nationality, irrespective of the place of their HSSC study, Pakistan or abroad.
  • Pakistani students studied abroad for HSSC but appearing in a Pakistani board from abroad.

In case of foreign qualification, equivalence certificate from IBCC, Pakistan is mandatory.

Business Studies and Social Sciences / LLB

SAT Test (SAT – I) Minimum score to apply in each subject – 550

OR

ACT Score of Maths, English and Reading: Minimum score to apply in each subject – 25

Engineering, Computer Science, BS Biotechnology, Architecture & Industrial Design

ACT Composite Score: Minimum score to apply – 25
