About the Test

GAT Subject is mandatory test required by HEC for the admission in any postgraduate study program in Pakistan. Each applicant must have qualified the test before admission to the course. GAT Subject test helps university or any research institute  to evaluate and analyze the   problem solving, Analyzing,  understanding of relationships abilities of an applicant to evaluate his/her potential for prospect course work in a specific area of study.
Candidates with a minimum of eighteen (18) years of education are eligible to appear in the test.
Total Questions (MCQs) = 100
Total Test Time = 120 Minutes (2 Hours)

Test Pattern and Syllabus

GAT Subject comprises of two major parts
  1. Subject Part  70%  Contains 70 questions from your subject area.
  2. General Aptitude Part  30%  Contains 30 questions (15 from English and 15 from Analytical) of general nature


Test Centers

The information about your test center will be mailed to you along with the admit card at the scheduled date.

Test Result Date

The result of NTS GAT Subject is displayed at the website www.nts.org.pk at the scheduled date. You should view your result yourself. Your role number and some times the NIC number are required to access your result at the site.

Why GAT Subject

Scores on the Subject tests are intended to indicate knowledge of the subject matter emphasized in many
undergraduate programs as preparation for graduate study. Because past achievement is usually a good
indicator of future performance, the scores are helpful in predicting success in graduate study. Because
the tests are standardized, the test scores permit comparison of students from different institutions with
different undergraduate programs.

Role Number Slip / Admit Card

Admit cards are dispatched to the accepted candidates at the scheduled date. If you do not receive your admit card for the test two days before the test date, you must contact NTS in this regard. However; if the admit card is available online get it printed.

Accepted Applicants List

If there is no object on your application for the registration of the test, you will find your name in accepted candidate list displayed at www.nts.org.pk at the scheduled date. If you name is not in this list, check the list of Rejected candidates.

Rejected Applications

If you are not eligible or your application for the registration contains error or omissions, your application will be rejected and your name will appear in the Rejected Candidate List at the scheduled date.

The preparation of GAT Subject comprises of two types:

The Subject Part

Subject part is your strong area, no one can teach you. You should revise the concepts and other subject matters from the books you have already read.

General Part

Books for Preparation

No exact relevant to a GAT Subject book is available in the market. For subject part you will revise from the books you have already studied in the university.
For General Part you can buy GAT Smart Brain by Muhammad Idrees (Published by Dogar Brothers). The English and Analytical part in this book are relevant to you.

Tips and Trick For Preparation

Do not focus only the topic of the subjects provided by NTS but consider the subject as a whole. Revise every concept you ever know about your subject.
For analytical part practice more and more questions.

How to Score High

The major part of the test consists of Subject questions. So you can have higher score in your subject as compare to the General questions. The past results show that people do not prepare the test effectively and rely on their luck. The result percentage of passed students is a clear reflection that one is passed if one do hard work for the preparation of the test.
