About the Test

NAT - I is the most widely taken test among other test of its level and scope. It focus all professional degrees of Bachelor level. All students can take the test after completing FA, FSc, or intermediate equivalent course.

Types of NAT-I A, E, M, CS, GS, COM

NAT I is of 6 types each one is specific to a Subject/Course in Intermediate.

Total Number of Questions

Total number of Questions in each type NAT is 90. The test is consisted of two major parts 1- General Part (60 questions) and 2- Subject Part

NAT - IA

NAT - IA is of general nature. It is not relevant to any particular subject or course. Those students who have not belong to Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, General Science, or Commerce, they can opt to take NAT-IA. The subject part of the test is consisted of MCQs of General Knowledge (General Knowledge, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies)

NAT - IE

NAT - IE is for students who have qualified of FSc with Pre-Engineering. The subject part is consisted of 3 sections namely Physics (10 questions), Chemistry (10 questions), and Mathematics (10 questions).

NAT - IM

This test is for Pre-Medical group students. The subject part of the test is consisted of three sections that is Physics (10 questions), Chemistry (10 Questions), and Biology (10 questions).

NAT - ICS

NAT - ICS includes 30 questions of computer science in the subject part of the test.

NAT - IGS

In this type of test, 30 questions of General sciences i.e., Mathematics (10 questions), Statistics (10 questions), and Economics (10 questions).

NAT ICOM

30 questions of subject part of NAT ICOM include 10 questions 0f Economics, 10 questions of Accounting, and 10 questions of commerce.

Register to Take NAT - I

Every candidate of NAT - I must be register for the test at NTS before the scheduled date. You must follow the instructions given by NTS.         Registration for NAT I

Test Pattern and Syllabus

Every NAT is also consisted of two major parts
  • General Part: Quantitative Section - Word Problems, Analytical Section, Verbal Section
  • Subject Part: General Knowledge, Islamiat, Pak Studies

Test Centers

NAT is conducted in major cities of Pakistan. A list of test centers has been given in the website www.nts.org.pk. As you receive your role number slip, you'll find the name and address of your test center printed on the role number slip.

Test Result Date

The result of NAT is normally announced with in ten days after the test. As a whole,  NAT is an easy to tackle test.
A large number of students get score above 70 with an thorough study of the contents in a professional guidance.
NTS publish the result of the every instance of the test at its website (www.nts.org.pk). If you want quick response from NTS website, you should visit their website at night or at least early in the morning. The result is usually displayed in the website 12 hours before the announced date.

Validity of NAT

The result of NAT remains valid for 1 year. You can apply any of the affiliate university or college on the basis of this result up to 1 year period.

NAT Retaking

You can retake NAT as many times as you want. You will apply for admission on the basis of the NAT in which your score is higher. If you have ample time before the dead line of the target institution and your score is not as well to be help full in admission, you should take NAT again.

Role Number Slip / Admit Card

The role number slips of the accepted applicants dispatched at the date mentioned in the test schedule. If a student does not receive the role number slip before two days of the test date, he/she must contact NTS in this regard. No other person or any prep institute will be helpful for you.
If the role number slip or admit card is available in your account at NTS site (www.nts.org.pk), then just get its prints and take it to the test center. There will be no problem.
Check your near by post office if your mail is present there and is waiting for delivery pick it personally.

Accepted Applicants List

NTS displays a list of accepted application for the test registration. You can check whether your name is in the list or not. Be careful about the role number slip.Most of the time, NTS does not follow this procedure for every instance of NAT.

Rejected Applications

When you apply for the registration of NAT it might contain some errors or it might be incomplete. NTS displays list of rejected applications. If your name is in this  list of rejected applicants, contact NTS office for removal of the objection.

Preparation

No doubt, NAT is not a difficult test. A large number of test takers obtain more than 75 score. However; subject part or General Knowledge part of the test is lengthy enough and take much time to be grasped. But luckily; the weight of subject part in whole test is much lesser. If unfortunately; you gets lower score in NAT, you should not blame only the subject part.
Consider every section of the test equally important. Give ample time to each section.

Books for Preparation

The Officially recommended book for the preparation of NAT-I is Smart Brain NAT, written by Muhammad Idrees and published by Dogar Brothers. A separate books for each type of NAT is available.
Other books are also available in the market but they seriously lack in composition based on weight of the sections of the test, in appropriate and irrelevant contents. However; it is also useful to have multiple books. You may take more than one book for more effective preparation.

Past or Sample Papers

Past or sample paper of the NAT are collected by the information and feed back form the test takers. Some past and some sample papers are available in this website. Tips and Trick For Preparation

Many techniques are very effective in gaining high score in NAT-I.
Tip 1
Verbal section of the test completely base of English vocabulary, so make sure that you acquire at least 1000 new and relevant word pool during your preparation for NAT-I.
Tip 2
Geometry is very less important as the number of questions and difficulty level of the questions are low. The actual weight of Geometry is not more than just a topic of quantitative section.

How to Score High

Negative Marking

In scheduled NAT there is no negative marking up till now. However; NTS may change rules for negative marking in future. The negative marking is applied in many customized NAT tests.

Score High

You can have high score in NAT easily if you concentrate your weaknesses and strengths. Give time to each section judicially based on your week areas. More often students give much lesser time to the verbal section and spend much of their time in doing mathematics (quantitative section).
Analytical section need more and more practice and sample questions. Spare highest proportion of your time for the preparation of this section.

List of Test Qualified Candidates

The qualifying score of any NAT is 50/100. The list of successful test takers is displayed on the official website of NTS. A copy of the result is also mailed to you by postal service.

NAT Scoring

The qualifying score of NAT - I is 50. If some test taker gets the score of 50, it does not ensure his/her admission. Every university or college has its own merit system. The university or college assign a certain weight to the score of NAT. This weighted score is added to the weighted academic score.
